HVAC Controls
Engineer.

Manchester, New Hampshire · Full-time

Lead the installation, programming, and graphical development of building automation and DDC control systems across a variety of projects.

Established in 2008 and headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, Granite State Automation designs, installs, programs, and supports building automation systems throughout New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts.

You’ll help carry controls work from project review and system design through programming, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting. You’ll also serve as a technical resource for GSA’s engineering, project management, service, and field teams.

HIRING SALARY RANGE$90,000–$120,000

THE WORK

This role combines technical depth, project ownership, and hands-on field support.

KEY DUTIES

From scope through startup.

  • Provide technical leadership for controls projects from startup through successful execution.
  • Review plans, specifications, and existing conditions to define scope and support estimating.
  • Prepare submittals and drawing packages, including wiring diagrams and sequences of operation.
  • Program DDC control sequences and develop clear, user-friendly system graphics.
  • Coordinate with project managers, installers, and subcontractors to keep work accurate and on schedule.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and point-to-point checkout.
  • Troubleshoot controls issues and support field technicians.
  • Create material lists based on project drawings and requirements.
  • Identify opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience that carries a project.

  • Five or more years of field experience in BMS and HVAC controls programming, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience with Johnson Controls Facility Explorer and/or Metasys Extended Architecture is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience leading construction crews or controls projects.
  • A solid understanding of BMS communication protocols and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio.
  • Ability to manage work from inception through completion and collaborate across project teams.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed; overnight stays are not required.
  • A valid driver’s license and a strong ethical, professional, customer-focused mindset.
